BMW Vision Gran Turismo Concept 2014

After first showing us some Gran Turismo awesomeness late last year, BMW has finally pulled the covers of its latest concept vehicle, but one that will only be available in the world of Gran Turismo 6.
This is the 2014 BMW Vision Gran Turismo Concept and as we had expected, it looks positively insane.
Remember when Mercedes became the first company to unveil its own Vision Gran Turismo Concept ? When it did, we all fell out of chairs, blown away by the insanity of Merc’s creation.
But what it also did was set the bar really high for the rest of the car brands that were preparing their own concepts for Gran Turismo 6.
Admittedly, we had some trepidations on what other companies had up their sleeves. But with the arrival of BMW’s GT6 concept, all the doubts that crept up in our heads about what the car was going to look like quickly evaporated.
At first glance, you get the vibes of the M4 Coupe , albeit one that’s been rebuilt specifically for video game-racing purposes.
But the best part about this concept is that unlike the Mercedes version, this one looks like its ready to be transformed into the real world.
Should that happen, trust us when we tell you: it’s going to be have a lot of people clamoring for a piece of it.

BMW 6 Series Gran Coupe 2016

The first 6 Series saw daylight in 1976 as the E24 chassis.
This two-door coupe lasted until 1989, at which point BMW discontinued production, waiting another 14 years before resurrecting it as the E63 and E64. As of 2014, the 6 Series is now in its third generation as the F12, F13, and F06 chassis, with over 80,000 units sold since the release of the convertible model in March of 2011.
The latest iteration is slated to make its world debut at the North American International Auto Show, arriving in showrooms for the first quarter of 2015. The 6 Series comes in three discrete body styles: a two-door coupe, a convertible, and a sloped four-door known as the Gran Coupe.
Featuring a longer wheelbase, plus a rear end that is short and sharply slanted, the Gran Coupe takes the convenience of four doors and adds the styling cues of a two-door model. It’s a vehicle philosophy that seeks to combine luxury, performance, and functionality into one handsome package.
Updates for the 2016 model year are minimal, but include exterior styling tweaks and additional options for the interior and body color paint scheme. Beyond that, all the luxury and performance you’d expect from a world-class Bavarian import is present and correct.
Has BMW maintained its position as the “Ultimate Driving Machine?" Click past the jump to decide for yourself.

Spy Shots: BMW M4 GTS Testing In The Snow

When BMW took the decision to segment its 3 Series lineup into more body styles, the M3 Coupe disappeared and was replaced by the new M4, one of the many novelties that the latest M-powered sports car surprised everyone with. Another major surprise was the car’s switch to a twin-turbocharged inline-six, which was seen by a lot of purist as a downgrade from the high-revving and naturally-aspirated V-8 found in the previous generation. Set to bring back some of its fans and also gain others, the upcoming 2016 BMW M4 GTS will be the most hardcore variant of the lineup, a direct successor to the track-ready M3 GTS.
While not officially confirmed as of yet, the upcoming GTS version of the BMW M4 is hard at work testing in all types of conditions, with a pre-production prototype having been spied drifting around on the snow in northern Sweden. BMW testers had covered the lower part of the front bumper, but an all-new and rather aggressive front lip is rather evident on the model, as is the small rear wing, the Recaro bucket seats inside and the carbon-ceramic brakes with gold-painted braking pads.
The model is expected to shed quite a lot of weight compared with a standard BMW M4, with the loss mainly being achieved by the removal of the rear seats and even more use of carbon-fiber-reinforced plastics (CFRP). The 3.0-liter, twin-turbocharged inline-six may also get a slight bump in power from the standard 425 horsepower and 406 pound-feet of torque, but most of the GTS performance additives will follow Colin Chapman’s philosophy of "simplify, then add lightness." Expect the model to be launched sometime in 2015, with a Geneva Motor Show reveal being likely.

BMW 220d Cabrio With M Performance Parts 2015

The 2 Series is BMW’s venture into offering a fun, sporty, luxury ride that’s somewhat affordable. The 220d model packs a 2.0-liter turbo diesel engine under the hood, with a choice of either a two-door coupe or cabrio body style. While the base model convertible could be seen as a bit bland, all the trimmings are still available to those souls cavalier enough to take a pen to the options list. Now, it appears as though that list just got a lot bigger with a capital M.
BMW’s tuning division, BMW M GmbH, is responsible for some of the greatest Bimmers to ever touch tarmac. From the Nordschleife to the autobahn, an M badge on aBMW connotes one thing: complete seriousness about performance.
It’s the sort of clout that can sell just about anything, if it’s branded correctly. Case in point: the new performance parts for the 220d. Despite being a diesel-powered convertible, BMW thinks the 220d is ripe for speed tuning, or at the very least, the illusion of speed.
As you can probably guess, the majority of these upgrades are completely cosmetic, offering not much more than homage to sportier, more powerful BMWs classes ahead of the 220d. However, there are a few drivetrain upgrades that could amount to a substantial difference in driving experience. But are they worthy of the M badging? Read on and judge for yourself.

2014 BMW M3 Caught During Hot Weather Testing

The next generation BMW M3 won’t be showing its face until the 2013 Paris Auto Show, but we’ll at least get to see it undergo its painstaking testing until that happens. Bimmerpost was able to capture the future sports sedan as it endured the hot weather in Spain.

The video shows a little more of the M3’s exterior, but our main focus as we watched it was the sound pouring out of what we suspect is the new inline-six cylinder engine. We believe the previous V8 engine has been dropped in favor of the new V6, but we are still unaware of whether the new engine will be equipped with two or three turbos. Either way, it will boast of 450 HP, an increase over the current model’s 420 HP.
The future BMW M3 will be offered exclusively as a sedan and will show up on US dealerships in the winter of 2014. Before that, we’ll be able to get a closer look at the future model whenBMW unveils its M3 Concept at the 2013 Geneva Motor Show.
